Ir- (2018)

ir- was the first study in a long series of experiments, exploring what would become my sonic language. I removed many of the traditional scoring elements and created some unique playing techniques. The cello is heavily detuned and ‘prepared’ with wooden sticks jammed through the strings. The sticks create a natural distortion and disrupt the resonance of the string.
